Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis 2 - Fossil Sites

Description

So, I've seen this done elsewhere and thought I'd give it a go myself.
I was a massive fan of the game Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis and really hope that we'll get a sequel to it when the new film Jurassic World comes out.

My thought was that when you first play the game you could select where in the world you want your park to be located, and that decision would then influence how difficult the game is because you would only have access to fossil sites found in that part of the world. For example, North America would probably be the easiest as it has a lot of fossil sites and some of the most famous Dinosaurs are found there - Tyrannosaurus, Stegosaurus etc. Opposite to that, Australia would be the most difficult as it has few fewer fossil sites and the dinosaurs there are relatively unknown to the general public.

The game would then include an online feature that is basically a reconfiguration of the "marketplace" feature from the original game where you could buy or sell fossils. This feature would allow you to sell your own fossils to other players as well as buy fossils from them. An example of this would be a player with a park set in Europe selling fossils of Baryonyx to a player with a park in Asia. Alternatively they could to a swap - several Baryonyx fossils for Velociraptor fossils.

Rather than just have dinosaurs, there would also be other features such as aviaries for flying creatures like birds and pterosaurs, and aquariums for sea animals, like plesiosaurs, ichthyosaurs and prehistoric fish. There would also be some early mammal species, amphibians and other reptiles.

Anyway, the sites that I would want to see included would not be as broken up as they were in the original game (no Acrocanthosaurus appearing alongside Parasaurolophus, for example) and would not all be limited to three animals in each. As you progress you unlock sites with more animals located in them, for example in Europe you would start out with the Knollenmergel Formation site, which contains only two animals and then gradually work your way up until you unlock the site with the most animals, in Europe this would be the Wessex Formation.

The sites, by continent and star rating would be as follows:

1 star - Ojo Alamo Formation: Alamosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, Ojoceratops, Mesodma

Yeah, I had to cheat a bit here. I really had to include Carnotaurus here, but nothing is found in the same site as it, so I had to try and grab a few names from nearby areas. I also had to cut a few better known names to keep things from being too similar, like Giganotosaurus. The plates Wuerhosaurus, the last of the stegosaurs, was cut from the original game and doesn't make the cut here either as nothing really lives near it aside from a load more pterosaurs, and I've already included loads of them.

So anyway, if this game were to ever be real, where would you start your park?

This is a really cool concept! Not sure where I’d make my park, though probably Europe (I have a soft spot for British and Romanian dinosaurs, the former due to actually living in Britain and thinking many of the species in my country are sadly underrated and the latter simply because of the utterly unique species the Hateg Island ecosystem produced).
